Laura Havenhand was born in 1986
in Blackpool. She attended Preston College where she
received an ‘Outstanding Achievement award in Fine Art’ before going to
Blackpool and the Fylde college to achieve a distinction in a Btec diploma in
Fine Art, whilst working along side Tradecraft Ltd to produce a sculpture for
their international fair-trade campaign. Havenhand then went on to Leeds Metropolitan University where she completed a BA (Hons) in Fine Art in 2009. During university Havenhand was a founding member of the artist collective ‘Me vs You’ and curated shows all over Leeds. Since leaving university, Havenhand has been commissioned by restaurants and businesses around the Leeds area and had her first solo exhibition at The Bowery Gallery, Leeds, in Jan 2010. Since then has shown in a number of group shows, joint shows and solo shows. In November 2009 Havenhand became a member of Blott Artist Collective, Blackpool. Havenhand has been invited by Leeds University MA Fine Art to give a guest lecture and has tutored children in the area, held workshops as well as doing a short residency at a local school. She works as the curator at Blott Artist Collective along side her practice. |
